Pepsi Seven-A-Side: The host team and NRT into Semis

Kathmandu April 20, Nepal Seven-A-Side Team, the host team, and New Road Team (NRT) booked their places in the semi-finals, winning their respective quarterfinal matches Monday in the Second Seven-A-Side Pepsi International Inter Club Football Tournament underway at Dasarath Stadium.

Both the matches of the day went to extra time after games ended in 1-1 stalemates during regulation time. The host team defeated the Armed Police Force (APF), 2-1, and NRT ousted the Nepal Army Club 2-1, as well.

Amir Shrestha opened the scoring for APF in the 17th minute, but his team was unable to hold on to the lead as the host team leveled the score some few seconds later. No other goals were scored within the regulation time. During extra time, Uttam Gurung won the match for the hosts when only two minutes were left on the clock.

In the other match, Khum Gurung scored an early, fourth-minute goal to give NRT the lead, but Bikarna Shrestha of the Army equalized in the 35th minute to take the match to extra time. Bal Gopal Shaukhala sealed the match with one minute left to give NRT the win.
