Bangladesh beat NPC 1-0 in friendlay match

Kathmandu March 18, Bangladesh’s national team registered a 1-0 win over Nepal Police Club in a friendly football match held at the APF Ground, Halchowk, on Saturday.

Arman Aziz scored for in the 20th minute through free kick from outside the D-box. were awarded with the free kick after Deepak Pandey brought down Bangladeshi player near the D-box. Physically dominant Bangladeshi team played aggressively from the beginning against the fatigued Police team which played the Seven-A-Side match a few hours back at the Dasharath Stadium.

Police once again repeated Nepali team’s chronic problem as they failed in the finishing line for several time. In the24th minute, Bangladeshi custodian Aminul made a long stretch dive and punched the powerful free kick shot off Bhola Silwal from the edge of D-box.

Likewise, Parbat’s spectacular free kick in the 26th and 36th minute was also foiled by the opponent goalie. In the 41st minute, young star Chetan Ghimire missed a golden chance of leveling the score off the pass from Jumanu Rai.

In the second half, Police dominated the match in terms of ball possession but could not score a goal. In the 83rd minute, too, the Police missed a chance as the ball deflected after hitting the opponent goalie. In the 90th minute as well, Jumanu’s spectacular header was saved by the opponent goalie.

Adson Silva Dedo, Bangladesh’s coach of Brazilian nationality and also the former player of Flamengo in Santos, said it was a good game and he was satisfied with the team’s performance despite short training of four weeks only.

“NPC won’t qualify for the President’s Cup if they come up with such a poor performance”, said NPC coach Birat Krishna Shrestha.
