Nepal bid for AFC Challenge Cup

KATHMANDU, Oct 11: Nepal have placed bid to host the group stage of the AFC Challenge Cup 2012. The group stage will be held in 2011. Nepal had also hosted the group stage of the previous edition of the tournament.

"We have already informed the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) that Nepal would participate in the event and bid to host the group stage," ANFA President Ganesh Thapa, who is also the president of the Challenge Cup organizing committee, said. "The AFC meeting to be held on October 22 will divide teams for the group stage and also finalize the venue."



There is provision of hosting group matches by a team from the group.

The Challenge Cup to be participated by national teams is held every two years. At least 16 teams are expected to participate in the event. The participating teams are divided into four groups, and the winners and the runners-up of the group stage will make it to the final round.
