Pepsi-Seven-A-Side: NPC into Final

Kathmandu April 22, Jumanu Rai scored a hat trick as Nepal Police Club (NPC) registered a thrilling 3-2 extra-time win over the host Nepal Seven-A-Side Football Association Wednesday to enter final of the ongoing Second-Seven-A Side Pepsi International Inter-club Football Tournament at the Dasharath Stadium.

Police will take on the winner of second semifinal match to be held Thursday between Manang Marsyangdi Club and New Road Team for the title. Skipper Jumanu Rai scored in the fifth minute of the added time to complete his hat trick and steer the departmental time close to its first title of the year. Man-of-the-match Jumanu fired home the winner beating a defender inside the box.

Earlier, in the dramatic match, Jumanu opened the account in the 11th minute pouncing on a rebound after teammate Yogesh Shrestha´s shot was parried by goalie Sanjeev Shrestha. Anil Ojha levelled for the host 10 minutes later capitalizing on a rebound off the police custodian Ritesh Thapa on Bishan Gauchan´s strike. Again, in the 35th minute of the 50-minute match, Jumanu regained the lead but the valiant host equalized again four minutes later. Bijay volleyed on the equalizer into the net from near the pole off an Anil Ojha pass.

Both the teams missed several chances of scoring in the match. Police missed the chance in the sixth, 20th and 30th minutes. Likewise, the host also foiled chances in the third, ninth and 39th minutes.

Meanwhile, Hong Kong Nepalese Football Association handed over the sports accessories to the President of Nepal Seven-A-Side Football Federation Nabin Pun during the interval of the match.
