Pepsi Seven-A-Side: CMMC enters into Final

Kathmandu April 23, Manang Marsyangdi Club (MMC) registered a thrilling 2-1 extra-time victory over New Road Team (NRT) Thursday at the Dasharath Stadium to set up title clash with Nepal Police Club (NPC) in the Second Seven-A-Side Pepsi International Inter-club Football Tournament.

Shiva Shrestha headed the winner for the defending champion in the fifth minute of extra time against the six-man NRT two minutes after Nabin Neupane was sent off following two yellow cards. Nabin was slapped with the second yellow card after he argued with the referee. He was first cautioned in the 15th minute after a foul on Raj Kumar Ghising of MMC.

Earlier, NRT took lead in the13th minute through Bal Gopal Sahukhala’s penalty that was awarded after Khum Gurung was brought down by Shiva Shrestha inside the box. Ganesh Khadka equalized in the 34th minute through a flicking header on a Tashi Tsering pass.

Earlier in the eighth minute, Shiva Shrestha’s scorcher from outside the box went wide of the post. Likewise in the 28th minute, Anil Gurung’s shot was headed clear by MMC skipper Tashi Tsering with MMC custodian Kiran Chemjong already beaten.

Ganesh Khadka’s powerful strike from inside box on Tashi’s pass was foiled by NRT goalie Surendra Shrestha in the 37th. In the first minute of the added time, Laxman Ruchal’s powerful strike from inside box was brilliantly gathered by goalie Chemjong. Raj Kumar Ghising then missed a beautiful move set up by Ganesh Khadka.
