Dharab Feb, 18 - Nabil Three Star Club clinched the title of 11th International Invitational Budha Subba Gold Cup Football Tournament defeating Nepal Army Club (NAC) 2-0 in the final, here, Wednesday.Bhishan Gauchan and Santosh Sahukhala scored each for Three Star in course to make a history by winning the title for third time.
The winner has won the 7th and 9th edition of Budha Subba Cup. Three Star started to play in defensive mood in the first half in reverse to its adversary NAC. NAC could not convert its any attack into the goal and the first half ended in goal less draw. In the second half, Three Star came up with attacking game and showed its result scoring first in the 28th minute of the first half. Bhishan gave the lead scoring from the right corner of the post utilising the pass off Anil Ojha.Striker Sahukhala coverted the free kick that was awarded to Three Star just one minute before the final whistle blew to kill the match for Three Star Club.
Earlier, Yugal Kishor Rai missed two golden opportunity to score whereas Surendra Tamang could not perform well today despite of the winner’s good exhibition. NAC, which defeated Knight Chess of Jhapa in the semifinal, was helpless in the last moments of the second half. Army that entered the final for the first time fielded striker Hari Mahato in the second half. But Mahato was unable to conjure up any magic for Army. After Shiva Chaudhary’s header went above of the bar, Army could not muster any attack against their opponent Three Star.Three Star glovesman Kiran Chemjong proved as a strong barrier to NAC as he thwarted more than half a dozen of their shots .The man of the match of the final went to Raju Tamang of NAC.
Hari Mahato won the best scorer of the event while Kiran Chemjong was adjudged the best player of the tournament. Winner Three Star bagged a cash of Rs. 150,000 while NAC collected a purse of Rs. 75,000.
