Dharan, Feb 11 - Three times champions Nepal Police Club (NPC) crashed out of the 11th International Invitational Buda Subba Tuborg Gold Cup here on Wednesday. 7th Aaha Gold Cup winner a week ago in Pokhara went down 4-3 in tiebreaker against host Dharan Football Club. Police took the lead in the 59th minute through Ananta Thapa while Rishi Rai had equalised in 82 minute to force the match into 20 minute extra time.
As both the teams failed to break the deadlock in the extra time, the match was decided through penalty shootout. NPC striker Jumanu Rai hit the woodwork while Dharan FC goalkeeper Padmahang Limbu saved Chetan Ghimire’s shot. The Dharan FC goalkeeper was named the man of the match. Shekhar Limbu, Bishnu Sunuwar, Buddha Chemjong and Robin Rai converted for the hosts while Parbat Pandey, Bhola Silwal and Dipendra Poudel scored for the departmental team.
