Maharjan signs with Three Star

KATHMANDU, Sept 5: National football team defender Biraj Maharjan signed with Nabil Three Star Club (NTSC) for the upcoming season.

NTSC presented Maharjan and their new signings in front of the media on Sunday during a program organized to bid farewell to the team participating in the 59th Bharat Ratna Lokopriya Bordoloi Trophy Football Tournament 2010. NTSC will play their quarterfinal match on September 8 in the tournament that concludes on September 15.



"I found a group of young bloods in NTSC and decided to join them," said Maharjan, who played for New Road Team last season. Maharjan´s NRT teammate Ranjit Shrestha also joined NTSC last week.

NTSC are sending a 16-member squad for the tournament being held in the Indian city of Guwahati.

The NTSC team includes new signings Bijay Dhimal, Raj Kumar Ghising, Yogesh Gurung, Bikram Rai, Rabi Thapa, Buddha Chemjong, Raju Rai and Bishnu Sunuwar alongside Shrestha and Maharjan. Vishad Gauchan will captain the NTSC side in Guwahati.

Meanwhile, NTSC hinted they are nearing a deal to sign Meghraj KC as their coach for the upcoming season. KC is leading NTSC for the Indian tournament. "I´m looking after the team for the tournament," said KC. "We are having preliminary talks but we will go through all the details after the tournament. We haven´t reached any conclusion yet," added KC.
