KATHMANDU: The ‘A’ Division outfit Bouddha Football Club today unveiled their newly-signed 22 players for the upcoming season.
Veteran midfielder Rajesh Shahi (Khadgi) along with Khum Gurung and goalkeeper Binod Dangol are among the expensive players Bouddha signed from New Road Team. Each of the three players will earn Rs 30,000 per month. Uttam Gurung also penned the deal with the same amount from Ranipokhari Corner Team.
The club management denied to reveal the exact amount of the remaining members of the squad but hinted at the salary between Rs 8,000 to Rs 30,000. Of the new signing, 10 players are completely new faces. Rajendra Lama, Suroj Thapa, Subin Shrestha, Bikash Rai, Nabin Gurung, Jeevan Kumar Rai, Som Thapa, Manish Lama, Kumar Lama, Bhawani Limbu will make the top tier debuts.
The club lured four players each from NRT and RCT. Apart from Uttam, Buddha Lama, Ramesh Dangol and Ramesh Shahi joined from RCT while Bijay Majhi is the other player to join Bouddha from NRT. Other signings include goalie Dasharath Adhikari from Boys Union Club, Om Prakash Shrestha from G’Five Machhindra Football Club and Hem Bahadur Tamang from ANFA Academy. Only Dinesh Rumba had his contract renewed by Bouddha.
The club has set aside five million rupees as the players’ salary in its annual budget of six million. Speaking on the occasion, Bouddha general secretary Dharam Blon Lama thanked all the supporters and co-sponsors for their invaluable support in forming a strong team.
“We have signed a four-year co-sponsor deal with Bouddha Area Development Committee, Bouddha Gyan Guthi, Tamang Kalyan Guthi and G-Cafe,” said Lama. “Hopefully it will help us make No 1 Nepali football club.” As per the agreement, all the co-sponsors will provide the club Rs 500,000 apiece.
