Final round of school football from Tuesday

10 August 2009 - The final round matches of the Coca-Cola Cup Inter School National Football Tournament will be held at the Dasharath Stadium from Tuesday, the organizer All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) announced on Sunday.

Altogether, 12 teams were selected from 468 schools across the nation from the first round matches. The teams are divided into four groups and the final round matches will be held on the league-cum-knockout basis.

Thekraj High School was selected from among 32 schools in Kailali, Dreamland School from among 18 schools in Nepalgunj, Siddhartha School from among 40 schools in Rupandehi, Shanti Nikunja and Gandaki Schools from among 74 schools in Kaski; RIBS, Little Moon, Birendra Sainik and Arunodaya from among 224 schools in Kathmandu and Radhika, Sautha and Janak from among 80 schools in Biratnagar have been qualified for the final round.Dreamland, Sautha and Birendra Sainik are placed in group ´A´; Thekraj, Janak and Little Moon in group ´B´, Siddhartha, Gandaki and Arunodaya in group ´C´ and Radhika, Shanti Nikunja and RIBS are in group ´D´.

The top four teams of the tournament will receive cash prizes of Rs 200,000, Rs 100,000, Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000, respectively. Social High School, Pokhara, was the defending champion. While Sautha Higher Secondary School, Biratnagar, was the runner-up.


Bottlers Nepal will take the winners to the FIFA World Cup Football Trophy Tour to be held in Kolkata, India. Likewise, the best goalkeeper, defense, forward and mid-fielder will be taken to Tata Academy, India, for a two-week training. The sponsors have also provided jerseys to all 12 teams.
