30 June 2009 - Nilkantha Secondary School advanced to the Group ‘D’ final in the Coca-Cola Inter-school National Football Tournament qualifiers here at the Sanogaucharan grounds today. Nilkantha laboured to a 4-2 win in tiebreaker after a 2-2 draw in normal time against Gita Mata Higher Secondary School. Ashish Shrestha, Ranjit Timalsina, Kumar Gurung and Rajaram Adhikari converted the spot kicks from Nilkantha while only Ajay Kapali and Rakesh Thapa scored for Gita Mata in tiebreaker.
In Group ‘E’ match, Umesh Bhandari struck a hat-trick as Bright Horizon Children Home hammered Mount Radiant English School 5-1. Umesh struck in the ninth, 60th and 72nd to complete his hat-trick while Yuvaraj Rasaili scored the other two goals in the 28th and 37th minute. Bishwo Shrestha pulled one back for Radiant.
In another Group ‘E’ match, Sharada Higher Secondary School blanked Guheswori Bal Sikchhya Secondary School 4-0. Raju Chauhan scored a hat-trick (37th, 65th, 68th) and Sudip Chaulagain (44th) scored the another. Also, Arunima Saikchhik Pratisthan edged past Grace Academy 3-2 on two goals from Prabin Pudasaini (53rd, 57th) and one from Dipendra Rai (15th). Manoj Nepali (74th) and Robin Rana (80th) scored late two goals for Grace.
