Coca Cola Cup Inter School Football Tournament

Kathmandu, May 29 - Suryodaya School beat Ananda Bhairav 4-3 in tie-breaker after a 2-2 draw at the Coca Cola Nationwide Inter-school Football Tournament Central Region qualifiers here today.

Santosh Khadka put Suryodaya ahead in the second minute, while Ramesh Tamang equalised for Ananda Bhairav four minutes later. Suryodaya took lead again in the 63rd, thanks to an own goal from Dhiren Tamang and Shiva Shrestha equalised in the 69th. On penalties, Santosh Khadka, Shekhar Magranti, Ranjeet Giri and Subin Maharjan scored for Suryodaya. Shiva Shrestha, Ramesh Tamang and Sri Krishna Shrestha converted their spot kicks for Ananda Bhairav.

In the other match, Siddhartha Vanasthali thrashed Zenish Academy 10-0. Sujan Khatri and Kabi Khadka struck hat-trick each, while Krishna Poudel scored twice and Rakesh Lopchan and Bhisma Budha Magar netted one each.

Also, Ekta Sadan beat New Knowledge 3-1 on penalties after a 1-1 draw. Ganesh Oli scored for Ekta Sadan in the 19th minute and Rajendra Shrestha equalised for New Knowledge in the 67th minute. Also, Siddheshwor earned a walkover win from Ganesh. Likewise, Birendra Sainik crushed Caribbean School 12-0. Anup Subedi scored four goals, while Sandeep Gurung struck twice. Roshan Rai, Suresh Nepali, Bhim Magar, Krishna Ghale and Subi Khadka netted one goal each. Aaswangdin Lama of Caribbean School scored an own goal.

Sushan Karki scored seven goals as Gurukul Public School overwhelmed Srijana School 11-0. Sushil Maharjan struck twice and Subash Shrestha and Nisan Gurung scored one each.

In Butwal, Butwal Public School and Smriti Boarding School registered wins in the inaugural day matches. Nara Bahadur Thapa scored a hat-trick as Butwal Public beat Siddhi Children School 6-1. Netra Thapa, Santosh Gurung and Indra Bahadur Shahi netted one goal each for the winners, while Hom Bahadur Rana scored a consolation goal for Siddhi. In the other match, Smriti School thrashed Tribhuvan Children Academy 7-0 on goals from Dipu Shakya, Gautam Rana, John Tamang, Bobby Khatri, Suman Shakya, Dharmendra Rana and Dipesh Shakya.
