Prime Minister Cup champions honored

Kathmandu March, 17- Nepal government and All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) rewarded the Prime Minister Cup Invitational Football Tournament winning Nepali team with cash prizes here today.The 28-member Nepal ‘Red’ team, who beat Sri Lanka 4-2 in tiebreaker on Saturday, was awarded with Rs 1.3 million. Twenty players of the winning team along with three coaches received Rs 50,000 each while two managers along with three members of the medical team got Rs 30,000 apiece. ANFA provided Rs 260,000 out of the total cash prize.

Prime Minister Puspa Kamal Dahal gave away the cash prizes and letters of appreciation.ANFA president Ganesh Thapa lauded the success of the Nepali team. Thapa also thanked all those people and organisations who helped make the tournament a success. The ANFA president also drew PM’s attention on the need of another stadium.Member secretary of the National Sports Council Jeevan Ram Shrestha, Nepal Olympic Committee President Dhruba Bahadur Pradhan among others were present on the occasion.Meanwhile, president of the Republican Sports Federation of Nepal (RSFN) Jayendra Bahadur Chand made commitment that they would seperately felicitate the winners. “Today the team was honoured on our initiation but we will fete them ourselves after consultation with the ANFA,” said Chand. The RSFN had organised the tournament under the technical support of the ANFA.
