7 Oct 2009 - Bahrain secured their first victory in the AFC U-16 Championship Group ´B´ qualifiers defeating Lebanon 2-1 in the first match of the day at the Dashrath Stadium on Wednesday . With the victory, Bahrain have rekindled hopes of qualifying after a 2-0 loss against Tajikistan on Monday.Beginning with light shower, Bahrain missed some opportunities to score in the first half. The best of which was in 27th minute when Sayed Fadhel missed a perfect pass from Kadhim Ebrahim.
Lebanon scored a superb goal from Ali Saad four minutes later. Saad took a pass from Moustafa Hassan and kicked the ball from 26 yards that landed inside the net. Bahrain custodian Jasem M could do nothing but he saved brilliantly in 38th minute.
Bahrain retaliated with a well coordinated attack in the injury time of the first half scoring an equalizer through Abdulla Mubarak. The forward utilized a pass from S Fadhel and slammed the ball into the post.
Bahrain took the lead six minutes from time when H Aldoser converted a corner kick into a goal. Lebanon had an opportunity to hit back during the dying minutes. The referee blew the whistle for a foul as the ball traveled into the nets. Iraq´s Kadhim Oda Lazeem yellow carded Bahrain player but it was more costly to Lebanon.
The incident propelled a nasty scene after the match as Lebanese Tommy Hamod punched Sayed Madhi on face. Hamod was red-carded.
Lebanon´s coach Ismail Kortam accused referee of foul-playing. “The referee did injustice to us,” he said.
