Dharan 8 Feb -Pinker Tamang notched the late winner as Knight Chess Club of Jhapa stunned Nepal APF Club 3-2 in the 11th International Invitational Budha Subba Tuborg Gold Cup Football Tournament here at the Dharan Stadium today.
Yogesh Gurung had put the Knight Chess 2-0 ahead before Ganesh Lawati strick twice to equlaise the scores. But Tamang scored in the tournament’s 11-year history.
Gurung opened the scoring early in the ninth minute of the match to give Knight Chess a lead in the first half. Though the departmental team pushed hard for an equaliser, they were not able to get one.
APF came under further pressure after Gurung doubled the lead 12 minutes into the second half. But Lawati scored two goals in two minutes to pull the APF team out of trouble. Lawati scored in the 30th and 31st minutes to make it 2-2 with nine minutes remaining. Pinker Tamang notched the winner in the 40th minute of the second half. On Monday, Nabil Three Star Club of Lalitpur will take on Inter-Sports Club of Rupandehi.
