12 May 2012

Nepal Police Club emerged victorious against Indian outfit Mohun Bagan 2-0 in a friendly match played at Dasharath Stadium, Kathmandu, Nepal. In a mouth watering clash between two of the biggest team in their domestic front, both teams created chances to take the lead. But luck was with Nepalese side as NPC scored two late goals to seal the win over Indian rivals Mohun Bagan.
NPC were playing with five players who were not their club players: Bharat Khawas, Santosh Sahukhala, Biraj Maharjan, Kiran Chemjong and Sandip Rai. Khawas recently left NPC while other players belong to Three Star Club. Khawas and Sahukhala scored the winning goals for NPC.
NPC rode on luck as Mohun Bagan struck the woodwork twice in the first half. Skipper Sunil Chhetri and Ashim Biswas were unlucky as their shot rebounded off the woodwork. NPC too had their chances during the match but it took final moments of the game before they could capitalize on their chances.
