Arsenal will battle north London rivals Tottenham for Nepalese teenager Rohit Chand.
The 18-year-old, who plays for Indian First Division side Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) SC, is regarded as one of the hottest prospects in Asian football and is desparate to make the big time in European football.
Both Arsenal and Spurs are expected to run the rule over the classy defender when Nepal face Jordan in the World Cup 2014 qualifier next week.
Former Spurs skipper Graham Roberts, who is the current coach of Nepal, is in no doubt Chand is destined for the very top.He said: "Rohit is by far the best centre-half I have ever coached. He is an extreme talent who will play at the highest level."
Rohit will certainly be the first Nepalese star if he could make it to the top level of football. Certainly age is on his side only time will tell how good he can become. All Nepalese will be proud if he makes into the premier league where only a few Asians have made it and none from South Asia. Let's cheer and pray for Rohit and all the best to Rohit for bright future
Modified: As mentioned by our fellow reader Zeshman Rahman (Pakistani International Footballer) is the first South Asian footballer to play in the premier league. He appeared in 21 matches for Fulham FC from 2004 to 2006. But one thing to note about him is he was born in UK and opted to play for Pakistan as there were almost no chances to play for England. One notable thing about him is that he manged to play all four divison of England.
