Raj Kumar Ghising and Buddha Chemjong scored a goal each to give Nabil Three Star Club's (NTSC) a 2-0 win over Friends Club and secure a berth in the semi-finals of the British Gurkha Cup at the Dashrath Stadium on Tuesday.
The win confirmed Three Star's encouter against Jawalakhel Youth Club in second semi-final match on Thursday.
Raj Kumar Ghising easily scored the first for Three Star on 18 minutes. Utilising a quick pass from Anil Ojha, Ghising flicked the ball into the back of the net. The defense tactics Friends coach Paras Chaudhary had emphasised so much in the previous matches, failed to produce results today as Three Star troubled the Friends' back four throughout the match.
Buddha Chemjong doubled the tally for Three Star seven minutes from time. Chemjong made a darting run beating the defenders in a counter attack before slotting it home in a one-on-one situation with the keeper. Friends coach Parash Chaudhary later tried to hide his side's loss saying his team were a bunch of amateurs playing against a well experienced Three Star side.
For his rival, coach Megh Raj KC, the encounter was just another day in the park as the crowd favorites Three Star produced an effortless win. " I had given my players the freedom to play their own game. However, they looked weak in defense," said KC.
Meanwhile, Wednesday's first semi-finals will see the country's two big powerhouses - Nepal Police Club and Laxmi Hyundai Manang Marshyangdi Club - in action.
