Kathmandu, September 20: After a long time Dashrath Stadium will be full of football Fans on Tuesday as Manang Marsyangdi Club (MMC) will take on Rani Pokhari Corner Team in the much awaited Knockout Tournament after the completion of A Division League.
Rani Pokhari Corner Team (RCT) will take over Manang Marshyangdi Club (MMC) in the second match of the tournament. The first match between Boudha Football Club and Jawalakhel Football Club was not held as the latter walked over giving the former three points.
RCT coach Madhu Karki said that their young experienced members of the team are ready for the match. "MMC has more pressure then us as they are with new players."
MMC coach Bal Gopal Maharjan said that the training has gone well and the team is also set. "As two key players of the team, Rohit Chand and Sandip Rai, are missing so it will be a bit problem but we are sure in winning the match."
Karki further added that their defense line of the team is tight and will not allow the opponent strikers penetrate in the goal scoring position. "The pair of Santosh Shaukhala and Sujal Shrestha are in good form who will score in the match", added Maharjan.
"Our team consist former MMC players, Satish Raj Bhandari and Niraj Remi Magar who performed well during the league, and will do the same in today’s match", Karki informed.
Maharjan said that this tournament is the trail match for the team as MMC is with many new players. "After this match the potential of the team will be identified for the upcoming tournaments," Maharjan added.
The team had trained for two weeks regularly which has improved their quality said Karki. "As I have taken the team recently so the training has gone good for the recent day and we can expect good result from the team," Maharjan added.
The scheduled inaugural match between Jawalakhael Youth Club (JYC) and Bouddha Club was not held as JYC did not meet the requirement to play in the tournament. Bouddha club confirmed its place in the quarterfinal against Nepal Police Club.
