KATHMANDU, May 28: The Martyrs Memorial A Division League Football Tournament will resume next week.

A meeting between the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) and representatives of clubs on Friday decided to conduct the remaining matches of the first division league from June 3.

ANFA had indefinitely postponed league matches from May 1 citing technical problems. However, the main cause behind halting the match, according to an ANFA source, was the political instability.

Among the total 132 matches to be played under the double league system, 26 are yet to be held.

With a match advantage over the second and third placed teams - New Road Team with 37 points and Three Star Club with 35 points who have played 18 matches apiece - Nepal Police Club stand on the top of the points table with 41 points. Army Club, after playing 17 matches, are in the fourth spot with 32 points.

Departmental team Armed Police Force and Sankata Club are in the relegation zone with 13 and 10 points respectively while Boys Union are in the 10th place with 15 points in the 12-team contest.
